Besides the default map services embedded in Visum, you may add additional map services to Visum (Managing map services of the background map).
Automatic loading of background maps from the internet
You can define as follows whether to display background maps from the internet or to deactivate them.
1. From the Edit menu, choose User preferences.
2. In the navigator, click User interface > Background map.
3. Select the Permit loading of background maps from the internet option below the list of map services.
4. Confirm with OK.
Maps of the first map service listed are loaded automatically when you open a version or graphic parameters file.

Note: Access to background maps from the Internet may depend on the configuration of your proxy server. For the proxy server to create access rules, the following URL addresses may have to be specified when configuring your proxy server: |
